Summary:
Tella Holloway is losing it. Her brother is sick, and when a dozen doctors can't determine what's wrong, her parents decide to move to Montana for the fresh air. She's lost her friends, her parents are driving her crazy, her brother is dying—and she's helpless to change anything.
Until she receives mysterious instructions on how to become a Contender in the Brimstone Bleed. It's an epic race across jungle, desert, ocean, and mountain that could win her the prize she desperately desires: the Cure for her brother's illness. But all the Contenders are after the Cure for people they love, and there's no guarantee that Tella (or any of them) will survive the race.
The jungle is terrifying, the clock is ticking, and Tella knows she can't trust the allies she makes. And one big question emerges: Why have so many fallen sick in the first place?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This book follows Tella as she goes into the Brimstone Bleed to get the Cure that will save her brother. Then follows her and her companions as they travel through Jungle and one other terrain. As they travel they have to fight each other and the and the obstacles they come across. Tella never having had and any survival training besides watching "I survived" on TV have to some how survive this race and not get killed by her surrounds or the people...
***Spoilers Ahead***
Tella first has to find her way to a "Pandora Selection Process" after that she goes to a train and then finds herself in at a starting line... First terrain: Jungle. She first meets a mysterious dark male with blue eyes and I automatically shipped them. As the race starts she is alone and later meets a group and they travel together. They have 2 weeks to reach a base camp following a path of hidden flags. They all have these "Pandora" (from the Pandora Selection) and they are first in eggs and then hatch to be animals, with all different powers and shapes to help their contenders survive. Tella has a little black fox she names Medox. I think he is so cute but he is so bad ass, i wont spoil his powers but awsomesause!
Tella and "blue eyes" totally have a thing for each other but will it least is my question. They are in a race where only one can win. IDK if that means everyone has to die but people die pretty quick in a game for only one true winner

-Thoughts-
Okay i know this is super similar to The Hunger Games but I really enjoyed it. Yes its a race with only one winner, groups that stick together and hurt their competition, but this is different then The Hunger Games.
I thought this books was really intriguing and it hooked me from the very beginning. Its thrilling and keeps you on edge the whole time and there is never a dull moment.
Okay there are some things that bugged me... Tella whines a lot she doesn't help herself most of the time and waits for some else to do her work. And its like a typical love story, mysterious male, hates her at first then comes to like her in the end and becomes her protector cuz she cant protect herself (even though she says can) that's mostly the only thing that annoyed me, was Tella not actually do what she says she will and being a real heroin.
On the other hand I thought is was really cool that they had Pandora, which reminded me of Pokemon in a way. They picked them in the beginning and they protect and help them through the race, some are cooler then others.
I know that some people are SO over The Hunger Games, and don't want to read that stuff anymore and some may think this is a rip off of The Hunger Games but its not I assure you. It similar but different. I read this book in a day and a half and I was hooked the whole time. never dull moment and I cant wait for the next installment to the series to finish Tella's story of the Brimstone Bleed.
-Anyone who likes: The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Maze Runner, Survival Stories and a Race to the Death, will like this book.-
5/5 Rating for being super action packed, thrilling and being able to make me stop what i was doing a sit and read.
Happy Hunting, Erin
